Domaine Payen has recently changed hands; young, dynamic and interesting hands at that. Ludovic, the winemaker, has quickly brought what was a struggling family domaine up to date. Bought in 2023, he has already started the process of converting the 27ha of vines to organic farming.
We are really excited to have a tiny allocation of their first vintage of Anjou and Savennières - textured, spicy Chenin at its best. Their Prélud range is incredibly well priced and offers so much for it!
AOC Crémant de Loire
60% Chenin, 40% Chardonnay. 6g Dosage
Organic Conversion
A fresh, mineral fizz perfect for all occasions. 12 months spent on the lees lends a subtle savoury note and texture.
AOC Anjou Blanc
100% Chenin Blanc
Gentle direct press, cold settling. Fermentation in barrel ranging from 1st to 4th fill with indigenous yeasts. 12 months in barrel on the full lees, followed by 6 months in stainless steel tank post blending.

For the acid lovers, this is pure, unadulterated Chenin Blanc. Fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve all the citrussy intensity.

2 days of maceration before the grapes are pressed and fermented and aged in old barriques for added texture. Fresh, herbal and crunchy red fruits.

Whole bunch fermentation of Grolleau. This is the perfect chillable red - peppery, herbaceous and crunchy red berries.
